OYSTER ROAST: October 15, 2000

Susan Powers reports that preparations for the Oyster and Bull Roast are going well. Don't forget you can buy advance tickets at Saturday's meeting! Advance ticket prices are $15/adult and $6/child. (Save $1 per ticket!)

Volunteers are needed first thing Saturday morning, October 9, at the Loveless Building to help clean up the area (rake, pick up leaves and branches, etc.) and begin the set up. On Sunday volunteers are also needed to set up tables and chairs — see you around 9:00 a.m.? If you'd like to volunteer to serve food or help out at one of the tables, call Susan at 301/855-7348.

As always, items which are still needed the day of the Roast include: baked goods for the Sweets table (they go fast!); used items and knick knacks for the White Elephant table; and bottles of liquor for the Ship of Cheer. White Elephant items should be dropped off at the Loveless Building on Saturday. So mark your calendars! Bring your family; invite your friends! This is HPCA's only fundraiser — we need your support, and you'll have lots of fun. Thanks in advance! Every donation of items and time is a big help! See attached flyer for more information.

NEXT MEETING

Well, if you get this in time, the meeting is Saturday, September 23, 2000, 7:30 p.m. Sorry this is getting out so late — my life has been all about babies lately! Remember, though, the meetings are always the fourth Saturday of the month — mark your calendars ahead of time!

Notes from Ed

  • Probably you've noticed the big piles of rocks at Cherry, Hemlock and Holly Avenues. Rock rip-rap 2000 is under way.
  • Other good news: Sewer connections are happening — Yahoo! The team is averaging about two homes a day, and their goal is to continue at that pace. A dozen or so of you lucky folks are already connected!
  • At this meeting, North Beach Mayor Mark Frazer (e-mail: mfrazer@ci.north-beach.md.us) and DNR representative Mark Spencer will be on hand to give more info about the Nature Trail, answer questions, etc. (and by the way, the community voted down having a spur of the trail come in at Holland Point).
  • Dues are Due!
